  • Carev Peak, Osogovo Mountains
  • Carev Peak, Osogovo Mountains

Name: Carev Peak

Location: Osogovo Mountains

Description:

Carev Vrv (2085m) is one of the highest peaks on the Osogovo Mauntains, which dominate the Eastern part of North Macedonia.

It is believed that the name of the mountains derives from the Saxon miners which roamed the area – from the Old German language words “osso” and “gov”, meaning “God’s place.”

Carev Vrv can be climbed from two sides: from Kriva Palanka (starting from the St. Joakim Osogovski Monastery) and from Ponikva in Kochani.

If you choose the climbing trail from Kriva Palanka, a route of 25km (approximately 5 hours of climbing one way) expects you.

The climbing route is moderately heavy.

The monastery is an excellent place for overnight stay, providing quality accommodation in beautiful and peaceful natural surroundings.
